I love delving into a design, analyzing various ways to get your message across and - most importantly - noticed by the right people.
I strive to create memorable, impactful designs. My toolkit includes the Adobe Creative Suite coupled with a deep appreciation of classical rhetoric and effective written communication.

Title: Soul Monkey Yoga
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop
Brief: Created logo design, advertisement mockups and graphic standards package.

Created entire graphic standards package for new, urban yoga studio opening in Washington, DC.

Original logo design to support an existing organization assisting in the Haitian earthquake relief effort.

Carolina Style & Travel
Original concept for a magazine. Layout design uses a 12-column grid and various existing articles and pictures for content.

Redesign of National Gallery of Art's member newsletter. Duotone design intended to be self-mailer.

Advertising campaign for OP Clothing, utilizing images instead of words or slogans.
Tools used include Photoshop, with over one dozen layers in each image.

Cold Mountain Book Cover Redesign
Redesign of an existing book cover for Cold Mountain by Charles Frazer.
Tools used were Illustrator for the map vector image and type treatment, and Photoshop for the burned paper.

University of Maryland Football Poster
Concept piece of a folding poster for the University of Maryland's football schedule. Poster folds in a pinwheel motion to reveal fun designs both when folded and when spread out.
Tools used include Illustrator and InDesign.

Not Rich Tumblr Blog
Modified existing theme and created original content for Tumblr website.
Used knowledge of HTML and CSS to apply click effects and layout changes.

Created website template for the Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light non-profit organization. Included designs for home page and interior pages.
Used knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and JQuery, plus Illustrator for original mock-ups.

My Beliefs & Some Career Highlights
Communication is everywhere and in every form.
I love seeking out the best way to display your message. Written or spoken. Dynamic visuals or structured
sentences. Powerfully argumentative or subtly stunning.
My path to a career in graphic design has not been the most direct route, but each step has been invaluable.
- Step 1: I honed my writing and speaking skills at the University of Maryland, and put them to real-world use at a local public relations agency.
- Step 2: My time spent in event planning and sales for a MiLB baseball team taught me that the details of a project can make or break you, and how to always be accessible to my clients.
- Step 3: The education I received at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts in DC gave me a great understanding of visual design, and plenty of practice with the software tools to put my ideas into motion.
Ultimately, I hope to continue making amazing messages that will have an impact on the world.
And I know I will have a blast doing it.
